Team building in Normandy: 5 ideas under 2 hours from Paris

Team on a seminar at Domaine Majorelle in Normandy

Good team building is more than an activity: it is a shared moment that changes how a team works together. Less than 2 hours from Paris, the Pays de Bray offers plenty to build tailor-made afternoons, by bike, on foot, on horseback or around a table. Here are five practical ideas, and how to choose.

How to choose a team activity

Before booking anything, clarify the goal: bond a team that barely knows each other, unwind after a project, build links between departments, or simply offer quality time. Depending on the case, a collective and playful activity may suit better, or a calmer format that encourages conversation.

Consider the group's fitness, the weather and the time available. Half a day is plenty; ideally leave free time so informal exchanges can happen. For general organisation, see our corporate seminars page.

Idea 1: a bike ride

Nothing sets a team in motion without competitive spirit like cycling. Forges-les-Eaux offers four loops through varied landscapes: from the La Rosière circuit (16 km, easy) to the Epte one (43.5 km), via the Andelle or the Béthune. Details (distances, durations, points of interest) are on the tourist office site (in French).

The town is also crossed by the Avenue Verte London-Paris, a former railway turned greenway, ideal for a relaxed ride. Bike hire, including electric bikes, is offered by a tourist-office partner: check directly with them. Plan a refreshment stop and a rain plan B.

Idea 2: hiking and an orienteering game

A forest walk encourages conversations in twos and threes, away from the meeting room. The Bois de l'Épinay and the paths listed by the tourist office (Pays de Bray walks) let you build a loop suited to the group. To spice it up, turn it into a team orienteering game with a map and a few riddles, or a treasure hunt.

Idea 3: a flavours workshop

Cooking or tasting together is a team-building classic, and the Pays de Bray lends itself to it: home of Neufchâtel (PDO cheese), cider, farm produce. The Route des Fromages de Normandie and the Bray Gourmand guide list producers. You could organise a guided tasting, a team cooking challenge or a “market basket” game. At the estate, the wood-fired barbecue adds a friendly touch to summer evenings.

Idea 4: horse riding or golf

For something more original, the tourist office promotes horseback seminars with an equestrian centre in the Lyons forest. The Domaine de Forges offers sports activities and a golf course, with taster sessions possible: ask about group formulas.

Idea 5: games on site and heritage

Without leaving the estate, a tennis (the court is private), pétanque or table-tennis tournament quickly creates atmosphere, with mixed teams to break down silos. For a cultural angle, a visit to the former spa quarter of Forges-les-Eaux can become a heritage treasure hunt, and the châteaux of Martainville and Vascœuil make a half-day outing.

Frequently asked questions

What budget should I plan for team building?

It depends on the activity and number of participants. Free activities (walking, games on site) cost little; activities with a provider (riding, golf, workshop) are charged separately. We prepare a proposal for your group.

How many people can you host?

The gîte sleeps up to 10 guests; day participants are possible on request.

What if it rains?

Plan a backup: board games, a flavours workshop, a work session in the fireside living room, or a nearby museum visit.
